OINOZ by Claude Gros is a red wine made of the Tempranillo grape variety (Qualified Designation of Origin Rioja) that bears the signature of the great Claude Gros, one of the most renowned French oenologists in the world and a great promoter of Languedoc-Roussillon wines. He has been working with Carlos Moro and the winemaking team of Bodegas FamiliaresMatarromera since 1988. He developed this wine with the firm idea of 'measuring the maturation in wood, moderating the alcohol level, providing good fruit maturity to achieve a feeling of fullness and a pleasant volume, persistence and round in the mouth'.

The vineyard

Fresh and chalky soils of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, located on the north side of the Qualified Designation of Origin Rioja. 25 and 80 years-old trellis and goblet-trained vineyards with limited production and small-sized grapes.


The wine

This clean and bright wine presents a full and lively layer with a dark cardinal colour and purplish tones. It is matured for 18 months in barrels and for 16 months in a bottle.

The nose is intense, elegant and very complex. This wine has aromas of ripe red fruit, such as blackberry and currant, subtle notes of black fruits, such as blueberry and bilberry and a mineral background in balance with the tertiary aromas from the barrel maturation; spicy aromas of clove and black pepper, dark chocolate, toffee and fine wood among roasted coffee.

In the mouth it repeats an excellent complexity with a very long and harmonious finish that leaves a pleasant taste of roasted coffee.
