Rento (Designation of Origin Ribera del Duero) is a red wine of the Tempranillo variety that must be tasted at least once in life.
Rento is the acronym for Renacimiento (Renaissance in Spanish) and is produced in a building from the Spanish Golden Age.
The Renacimiento Winery is located in Olivares de Duero (Valladolid), in the heart of Ribera del Duero. To truly know this wine, one must know the winery where it is produced traditionally. It is a building with several centuries of history that reflects the winemaking tradition of Carlos Moro's family. Since the 16th century, the house belonged to the Moro family. Now, Carlos Moro, who is dedicated to the world of viticulture and oenology, has decided, together with his family, to restore the buildings and the winery and produce a wine of the highest quality in accordance with history and time, but adapted to current tastes. It is an absolutely unique and singular winery whose structure has a beautiful coffered ceiling made of exposed brick that houses 50 barrels from the best coopers, which only give birth to Rento when vintage is excellent.
The vineyard
Zurita vineyards have been cared for with great dedication and affection until becoming part of RENTO's history. The vineyard is located on the southern right bank of the Duero River and is very special as its daily care does not involve the use of any chemical product.
The wine
A grape from the Zurita plot has exceptional sugar parameters and colour intensity, which are subsequently revealed in the wine made of a triple selection. Rento is aged for 18 months in 50 barrels, mostly made of French oak, from prestigious coopers. The barrels are only stacked at a certain height and are refilled monthly. It has an intense layer with a dark cardinal tone and significant purplish notes. The nose is wide, mature and very complex. It is dominated by ripe dark fruits among a multitude of notes of maturation, cedar wood, liquorice and Chinese ink. It has a good, elegant and silky structure with a powerful body and a remarkable skeleton of well-tamed stocky tannins that result in a lingering finish.
